Ending months of speculation, U.S software giant Microsoft, on Tuesday, announced that it had appointed Satya Nadella as the company's new CEO.Nadella will be the successor of the earlier CEO Steve Ballmer, who announced his retirement early last year.This news would came as a rejoice to the indians as an indo american leading the redmond giant. With this announcement, Nadella has become the third CEO of Microsoft and successor to Steve Ballmer. Steve Elop(Nokia),Sundar Pichai(Google),Tony bates(Skype) were in the list of the top probables which the rumor mill hinted could become the next CEO of the redmond giant.
"During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella," said Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, in a statement.
"Satya is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His vision for how technology will be used and experienced around the world is exactly what Microsoft needs.”
The company also announced that Bill Gates, who was previously Chairman of the board of directors, would step down as Chairman and assume a new role on the board as technology advisor.John Thompson would assume the role of Chairman, according to a statement.
