| From Right Satya Nadella & Sundar Pichai |
If Bloomberg reports are to be believed the Redmond giant is said to appoint Indian origin Sundar Pichai as its new CEO.
Negotiations were on in earnest with Pichai, Furrier wrote. Pichai, a senior vice president at Google, caught media attention in India when the portfolio of Google products he headed was expanded to include Android, the world's most popular smartphone software.
Earlier it was said that Satya Nadella, an Indian-American, who is currently the head of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise division is believed to be among the front runners in this race. Other people in the face include well-known faces like Tony Bates (Skype) and Stephen Elop (Nokia).
Nadella, who has been with Microsoft 12 years longer than Pichai at Google, is as clued in on the enormity of the challenge that faces Microsoft and the complexities involved, as cloud computing takes centre stage in the coming days. Both pichai and nadella are graaduated from indian enginnering colleges but Pichai's was more prestigious, an Indian Institute of Technology. They come from different cities, but both from south India, which has dominated India's IT outsourcing industry Being an Indian,it would be a cheer seeing one of them becoming the Redmond giant's next CEO.
