Powered by Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system, it has a 1.6-inch Super AMOLED touch screen that is surrounded by stainless steel. Under the hood, it packs an 800MHz processor and 512MB RAM, along with 4GB internal storage. Its screen resolution is 320x320p and pixel density is 277ppi. As already reported, the Smart Watch has compatibility issues with most Samsung phones, with the exception of Note 3, Galaxy S4, S4 Mini and S3. The Galaxy Gear smart watch has a speaker and mic, along with a 1.9MP camera. The strap of this smart watch is made of metal and comes in six colours.
This smart watch can be used for 1) voice calls, 3) message & mails, 3) track workouts and capture photos and videos. It can also understand voice commands via the S Voice app. The 315mAh battery can last for over a day on a single charge. Some of the apps that come preinstalled on Samsung include Galaxy Gear are Auto Lock, Find My Device, Media Controller, Pedometer.
As on date, the reasons for the downward revision in prices are unknown, with this revision, the competitor ‘Sony’s Smartwatch 2’ (priced slightly under Rs.13000) is now within shooting distance. Though the reason for the downward revision of price is yet to be known, the outcome of the price revision will reflect in the increase in sales volumes.Even then we advice that put on hold the smartphone for some time as next iteration in the galaxy gear series is in the pipeline and is soon to hit the shelves or wait for a Google Glass which would be far better functional than this Smartwatch and would have some cool apps.
